WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?
Our mission is-two fold: First, We want to prevent violent crime on college campuses by increasing the number of firearms carried by the “good guys” past the point where a violent criminal will simply consider the risks too great and attack somewhere else or not at all. Second should a violent criminal attack, we want to be able to provide for an immediate, swift, and deadly response to deadly threats instead of waiting for the police to show up minutes later. “When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.”
HOW DO YOU PROPOSE TO ACHIEVE YOUR MISSION?
We will provide a public worldwide forum to discuss the topics of disarmed / armed campuses, the policies of the campuses, state laws etc. We will also work to achieve changes in college policies and state laws to allow for firearms to be carried on campus by college citizens who wish to do so.
WILL MORE GUNS ACTUALLY INCREASE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO ARE INJURED OR KILLED?
It is possible. We address this possibility two ways:
First, our mission is that armed campuses will be able to stop an attack from even taking place. The best solution is for a firearm to never be drawn. This can be achieved by making the threat of a deadly response so great that the killer / criminal will change his mind, and attack somewhere else, or not at all.
Second, We are in favor of voluntary training and other preparation by those who wish to carry a firearm. For instance, they should consider spending time at a range firing and practicing with their weapon. A firearm is a tool - the more practice you have with it, the better you will be able to use it. It is also important to mentally prepare for an attack. By attending classes and training, you can become more mentally prepared to respond in an attack. So by arming a campus, and training those who carry, we hope to actually reduce injuries and deaths.
DOES EVERYONE NEED TO CARRY A FIREARM TO BE AN “ARMED CAMPUS”?
No. We address the policy of the institution. If a policy states that firearms may not be carried, that is advertising to the world a campus full of easy targets that cannot defend themselves.
SHOULD A LAW BE ENACTED FORCING CAMPUSES TO BE ARMED?
No. We respect property rights. We hope all campuses are armed, but we want voluntary arming - not forced arming by the government.
WHAT ABOUT CONCEALED WEAPONS?
We are in favor of unrestricted carrying of firearms on campus. However, we must also address the feelings and sensitivities of all members of campus society. It is for this reason that we strongly advocate any firearm carried on campus to be concealed at all times, and the person carrying the firearm should ensure that the firearm is not discovered unless it is drawn to protect campus citizens from violent crime.
An openly carried firearm just invites trouble - First, it provokes the sensitivities of those who may not be in agreement with carrying or even owning firearms. Also, the firearm itself could become a target for theft, possibly creating a dangerous situation. Finally, it could alarm someone, who would then report “armed individual”, “someone with a gun”, etc. (possibly even exaggerate the report), then the police respond, and things could quickly get out of hand.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH HAVING THE POLICE, WHO ALREADY KNOW HOW AND WHEN TO USE THEIR FIREARMS, ADDRESS A DEADLY THREAT?
They are too far away. Even with the best response times, the killer could allowed to kill for several minutes before encountering any resistance. By arming a campus, the threat can be dealt with in seconds.
WHY NOT JUST ARM THE SECURITY GUARDS, PROFESSORS, AND OTHER KEY PERSONNEL?
That is much better than a disarmed campus, but response time may suffer.
The killer at New Life Church in Colorado was stopped by an armed member of the church.
The best solution is to have an armed campus ready to immediately defeat a threat with overwhelming force, However, armed key individuals and security on campus is certainly a step in the right direction.
WHAT IS YOUR POSITION ON OTHER CRIME ON CAMPUS?
All citizens have the right to keep and bear arms. Campus citizens should be allowed to defend themselves against crimes as they see fit.
Everyone entering campus has a responsibility to behave properly. Everyone should use the courts and legal system to settle differences with another citizen. If a persons behavior would cause a reasonable person to draw and/or use their firearm, then the defense is justified.
It is difficult to tell if an attacker is only planning on stealing money or valuables from a person, or if they are planning to rape, kidnap, or kill them. The same goes for breaking and entering. It is hard to tell in the heat of the moment the intentions of the attacker. Therefore, any potential attack should be treated as a severe attack, and defended against accordingly.
However, citizens also must be responsible in the use of their firearms. For example, if someone is discovered stealing, with no potential harm to a person, a firearm should not be drawn or used. One should retreat and contact the police. There are many crimes against property that could be dealt with this way. However, if the situation somehow escalated, and the thief mounted an attack against the citizen, then defense would be justified.
WHAT DOES A LINE WITH … MEAN ON YOUR SITE?
We have lines that look like this:
…
When you see the three periods, that means we skipped something in the policy. For example, a category heading may be “prohibited conduct” and it could list out 15 items of prohibited conduct such as drugs, property destruction, and academic misconduct. The entry of “firearms” could be the 12th item on the list. Instead of filling our site with irrelevant information, we decided to skip it, and indicate that we skipped it with the three periods, so that our readers are made aware of the fact we skipped it.
WHY IS YOUR SITE MISSING SOME SCHOOLS, INCLUDING SOME VERY LARGE SCHOOLS?
We want to have as much evidence as possible before publishing a school. If a 5th grader cannot determine the weapons policy for a school, we are probably not going to publish it. We also preserve the information we gather on schools that we publish. These measures are to cover our tails….
Many times a school will have a policy that states “unauthorized or illegal possession” or something very similar. We do not publish these schools if this is the only wording they have. We cover hundreds of institutions in nearly every state in the land…. There could be hundreds of meanings for both “illegal” and “unauthorized”. We do not really want to read statutes and interpret law nor do we want to go to our crystal ball for the latest definition on “unauthorized”. so when we are in doubt, we just skip the school and move on with life.
If there is a campus you would like to see, submit it here and we will check it out. Regardless of what we find, we will post a page, so you can see what happened.

WHAT ARE THE STRANGEST POLICIES YOU HAVE SEEN?
So far we have seen the definition for a “Projectile Impelling Device“. Obviously, we have seen many policies where the Campus Police are not allowed to carry a weapon [ 1 ] [ 2 ], and probably the saddest we have seen is that people are suppose to play dead among other victims if there is an active shooter.
